Xenia, Ohio Poised for Significant Growth

Xenia has a diversified industrial base ranging from "traditional" manufacturing to high technology including research and development. Currently this industrial base consists of 54 industries with a total employment exceeding 2,216.
Xenia is on the threshold of extraordinary growth. The city has available industrial sites of approximately 300 acres, half of which has the necessary infrastruction for growth on site. The rest will beavailable within the next year when the infrastructure improvements are completed on the old OVCH-south property.
The Progress Drive area is prime for further commercial and retail development. A Super Wal-Mart and a Lowe's are being built in this area currently, with other retail operations to follow soon. The Downtown Central Business District is more productively occupied than it has been for many years, with new construction taking place at the main intersection of town. Very nice housing developments are being built all over the community.
Government entities (county, city, schools, state & federal) make a huge contribution to our local economy through payroll and other taxes, as well as through their very pro-active partnerships with us in economic development.
The proximity of Wright Patterson Air Force Base brings thousands into our community to live and visit. Partly because Xenia is the County Seat, many service and professional businesses choose to locate here, some of which are headquarters for multiple locations. We are fortunate to have a health care facility the quality of Greene Memorial Hospital right here in our city.
The Greene County Fairgrounds enables us to host large groups such as the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure and Honda Gold Wing Road Riders Association.
Legacy Center has brought more than 200 jobs into our community during its brief existence here and continues to grow at a pace difficult to believe. Its Schindler Banquet Center allows for gatherings in the 750 - 1500 range. The campus is also the International Headquarters for Athletes in Action and will break ground on a 40-acre, $5 million sports development in the spring of 2006.
Greene County’s trails, of which Xenia is the hub, also bring thousands of people to Xenia during the year to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Southwest Ohio. This diversity gives the Xenia economy strength.

The opening of Nationwide Biweekly Administration's location was just one of the ribbon cuttings that have taken place in the Xenia Area. Several new retail locations and a new restaurant (Tim Horton's) were also welcomed into the community during 2005.
